Educationist, Researcher, Musicologist, Essayist, Translator, Editor, Columnist and Fiction Writer from Bangladesh. Best known for insightful writings in English and Bengali on world music in general and South Asian music in particular. Contributed the article on History of Bengali Music under the title ‘West Bengal and Bangladesh’ to Garland Encyclopaedia of World Music South Asia Volume [Volume V], Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians Second and Compiler and Editor of History of Bengali Music in Sound and Sound History of Splendours of old Bengali songs. The Sixteen-Cassette Sound Histories (10+6) are first of their kind in the South Asia Region.      

Dr. Karunamaya Goswami received the highest National Award for Research, Bangla Academy Award on February 28, 2009.
